My master’s project aims to analyze and quantify the contribution of extratropical cyclones and atmospheric rivers to fluvial flooding in southern Quebec from 1991 to 2020. Additionally, the project seeks to identify the characteristics that extratropical cyclones contributing to flooding share. The analysis combines reconstructed river outputs, government financial aid claims following flooding, storm tracks, atmospheric river data, and precipitation data. Hopefully, the findings from this study will further the global understanding of the atmospheric causes of flooding and, ultimately, enhance flood preparedness.
