My master’s project aims to improve the measurements from radiometers installed in snowy conditions. To do so, we designed a snow removal device (SRD) to remove automatically the snow off radiometers. To assess the performance of this device, two radiometers were installed side-by-side at the Montmorency forest (QC, CAN), one of them being heated only and the second one being heated and snow removed. Results from this work showed that heating modules are inefficient, mainly by increasing long wave measurements and reducing short wave measurements.
